Red Bull Music Academy – Montreal

14671309_1162424760460604_171059331158366218_n.jpg

I had the great opportunity of going to Montreal for an exciting weekend, sponsored by Red Bull. The weekend consisted of a tour of the Red Bull Music Academy facility as well as the  Björk Exhibit and a RBMA kick off party. wooo

DSC00062.jpg

First we had The Björk Exhibit to attend. I had no idea that this exhibit would be presented through virtual reality. There were five scenes, for each scene you would be sent to a room,  sit down, turn on the headset and immerse into Björk’s world. Björk would bring emotion and warm ambience through each scene.  Every moment of this exhibit was so moving and eye opening. I wish I could have taken photos but was asked not to. I would definitely go attend  this exhibition again. Björk is a true artist and I was gratified to have experienced such a moving piece of art.

That night, we attended the Red Bull Music Academy kick off party which featured artists such as Turbo Crunk. It was a great night filled with amazing  DJ’s and lots of yummy Red Bull (the orange Red Bull edition is my favorite)

The next day we had the opportunity to tour the Red Bull Music Academy facility. The aesthetic of the center was beautiful. Everything I love and more (Electronic music, plants, more plants, amazing food, and great people) I would definitely call the Red Bull Music facility the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for electronic music makers.

Every room in the facility was filled with a theme and designed by a local artist in Montreal.

dsc00083

The art in the rooms were all done by different artists.  each room looked so amazing. This is one of the 10 bedroom studios.

We were brought to the workspace of the facility- this floor was by far my favorite of the facility. I would love for this to be my workspace one day. #GOALS

IMG_6046.jpg

This was the RBMA Cafe. Ahhhh isn’t everything just so cute?! they were serving coffee and drinks and for lunch were served such amazing food.

dsc00089

After lunch they were serving doughnuts from a local doughnut shop in the area. The doughnut was so yummy looking I couldn’t wait, I forgot to take a picture…haha  but just imagine a delicious looking doughnut. It was so goooood.

Thank you again to Red Bull for sponsoring this amazing trip. I had a memorable weekend and I hope to be back again at the RBMA sometime soon.

Surprise trip to NYC ♡

12179484_1047525471970317_91166851_nMy boyfriend surprised me on a trip to New York with tickets to go see Disclosure at Madison Square Garden for my birthday.,,ahhh I know, he’s so sweet! I didn’t get to record many footages because I wanted to enjoy the trip without feeling like I needed to record every moment of it but here is a short video clip of small footages I took during our time in NYC together.

Hope you enjoy!

Here are a few pictures I took from the trip-

Moonchild ♡

12096525_1037666996289498_5550815889793944983_n

I had the privilege of seeing an awesome neo soul trio from Los Angeles.

They are called Moonchild.

12092581_1037668546289343_1862846890_n

Moonchild started their trio as a horn section… Now they are a neo soul/jazz band. Amber Navran (the lead singer of the trio) has such a sweet soft voice which not only grabs the attention of any listener but the musicians that are supporting her  are so amazing that their combination is  the most mind blowing thing EVER!

12077332_1037668542956010_1695401965_n

You could really tell how humble and sweet each and every band member was. Which was awesome!! I feel so inspired and am so excited to see where their future takes them!

I can’t wait.

You can check them out here-

Oak Cliff Film Festival (Made in Japan) ♡

11650467_978455515543980_2014592195_n

Last weekend I was able to attend the Oak Cliff Film Festival. I love watching independent films. So being able to go and support an independent film was exciting for me.

madeinjapan

As I was looking at the list of films that were being featured during the festival the title ‘Made in Japan‘ quickly caught my attention. (Obviously because I am half Japanese and have a huge love for Japan)

Made in Japan is a documentary about a japanese country singer named Tomi Fujiyama. Yes, she is a japanese lady singing country music. Isn’t that so interesting?!

11328842_978459908876874_873235154_n

I felt this film was really relatable because I am a half japanese girl living in Texas! Texas is a state filled with country music and I never in my life imagined that country music  would ever be tied with a japanese artist.

madeinjapan (1)

Tomi Fujiyama performed at the Grand Ole Opry in 1964 alongside with Johnny Cash and many other legendary country artists. She was the only artist to receive a standing ovation that night.

Her dream was to sing at the Grand Ole Opry again. During the documentary she goes to america to try and perform at the Grand Ole Opry. Unfortunately due to the music industry being the way it is today the chances of Tomi performing at the Opry stage was almost impossible. You will definitely have to see the documentary to see if she ends up being able to perform at the Grand Ole Opry again!

11647426_978472125542319_1932585734_n

The film was so great because it really showcased Tomi’s hard work, fun energy, and beautiful spirit. It was so refreshing to see a true artist continuing her craft and being  true to what she loves.

11650980_978455522210646_551472059_n

At the end of the film we were able to ask the writer and director questions about the film. It was very inspiring and interesting to listen to the writer discuss about the process of the film.

Made in Japan has already reached great success with interviews from Jimmy Kimmel to features in SXSW.

Here is a video of Tomi Fujiyama performing-

I personally am not a huge fan of country music but when I listen to her sing I get a little emotional. You can sense her soul radiate from her music.

Made in Japan will be coming out sometime next year! If you get a chance to watch the film I definitely recommend it.

X Games Austin ♡

11418511_969981976391334_874402395_n

My friend and I took a road trip to Austin, TX to go watch the X Games!!

11311038_969981973058001_2115859659_n

My brother grew up as a skateboard fanatic which led me to grow up going to skateparks with him. So going to see a professional skateboarding competition was something that I always wanted to go to one day.

I  got to see many skateboarders that my brother grew up talking about when we were younger which was really cool.

We took a picture with the Big Air ramp. Can you believe that the tallest drop is 88 feet high?!? Now imagine going down that with a freaking skateboard!!

11391153_969713103084888_6153194073481249251_n

Me posing with the X of X Games… guys I had to document this moment haha

I was very very excited!

11311766_969981963058002_1907780985_n

Alexa and I  got to go up this tower.

We were able to see the whole view of the X Games from up top!

 11281726_969981969724668_567855416_n

I even got to take a selfie with the Big Air while I was up there.

11329587_969981966391335_1606135413_n

Also we got to watch people practice way up in the air! Which was awesome.

11262918_969981946391337_1068381616_n (1)

Out of all the competitions that day my favorite by far was the Big Air skateboarding competition.

(In the photo the little black dot in the air  is actually Bob Burnquist who won the Gold Medal in the Big Air competition)

11422745_969982326391299_1995891017_n

Bob Burnquist is one of three athletes that have competed in every X Games summer competition. He has won the most medals in X Games History  (27 medals)!!

Congrats to him and all the athletes that competed!!

I had such a great time, I would love to go again next year!
