Arezzo, Italia ♡

IMG_0566

I got to visit Arezzo, Italia.

A city where my brother had lived for a year while playing soccer.

IMG_0525

A film called “Life is Beautiful” was always filmed here.

Life is Beautiful is a movie I definitely recommend to watch! (It’s on netflix)

IMG_0546

This is the center of Arezzo, I wish I was able to take a better picture.

This city was breathtaking.

IMG_0529

This is the poster of the movie “Life is Beautiful”  it was so exciting for me to walk around Arezzo because they placed posters  and showed what part of the film was filmed in certain locations.

Life is Beautiful is a classic Italian film. Please go watch it!!

Otavalo Market ♡

IMG_0224

During my visit in Ecuador I had the privilege of visiting a town called Otavalo.  Most of the people that live in Otavalo  are the indigenous people of Ecuador. In this province there is a market that the indigenous Otavaleños sell there handmade products.

IMG_0222

Everything sold in this market is handmade. It was so beautiful to see the detail and hard work they put into every product.

IMG_0219

Seeing the indigenous people was very beautiful and so interesting to me.

IMG_0226

This mask has many meanings to it… the top 12 little figures sticking out of the head represents the months in the year. The front part of the mask represents day and the back represents night!

Otavaleños are so creative!!

IMG_0228

Visiting the Otavalo Market is something that I will never ever forget in my life. I saw many things that I have never seen before. From the indigenous people to the beautiful art that was sold in the market.

Lunch in Puertolago ♡

IMG_0236

My silly boyfriend took me to this amazing restaurant in an inn called Puertolago.

Puertolago is located in Otavalo.

IMG_0235

We had empanada de verde as an appetizer.

Which was amazing the cheese inside the empanada was amazing!

IMG_0239

We had fish for lunch! My dish was the plate above ^^ it was a type of fish and inside there were fruits of the sea inside. Just thinking about it now makes my mouth water!

IMG_0240

Look how cute everything was presented!

It reminds me of my the way my mom used to pack my lunch in montessori school haha!

IMG_0243

ANDD ofcourse we had dessert! This type of ice cream we had is called helado de paila.

Which is ice cream made from a pan.

IMG_0234

The view from the restaurant was beautiful!

IMG_0259

Yes we did try to take selfies in front of the mountain but it didn’t really work! haha

Thank you for the yummy food Puertolago!

Mamma Nappa’s Art Show Feature ♡

11356265_973547989368066_1463787766_n

My mom recently started painting last year.  Family, friends, and I noticed that she had a natural talent for art.

11358909_973547986034733_884381261_n

Her artwork has been featured in art shows and  many people have bought and requested personal pieces from her. So she decided to start her own business. Which is already doing very well! It is really cool to see that she never focuses on the money or the business side of her art… she always focuses on her craft which is what a true artist should do. My mom always expresses that there is always room to grow and that she still has yet to learn.

It is great to see that people believe in my mom and that people believe in her art so much that they are willing to purchase her work and even display her artwork in an art show.

A few months ago my mom decided to submit three of her pieces into the Dutch Art Gallery Show. Which is a very difficult gallery to get into. Only the greatest artists in the Dallas area can get into this gallery and show.

Not only did she get in but all three of her pieces were accepted into the show! Which is such a big deal!! We were so excited for her.

It’s so beautiful and inspiring to see my mom going after her dream and using her talent! My mom has taught me that you can continue doing what you love at any age. To always work hard. To express your feelings and emotions through doing what you love. That there are no boundaries to what you want to do and learn in life.

If you are interested in some of my moms artwork you can view her instagram here- http://www.instagram.com/kaori.nappagallery

There will be a website made very soon.

So proud of you Mamma!

Cherry Blossoms at the Arnold Arboretum ♡

11198397_955362294519969_998032578_n

I had the pleasure of going to the Arnold Arboretum today with my Japanese Music & Instruments class. Today was a great day to go because the weather was absolutely beautiful.

11198909_955363727853159_1415745110_n

The arboretum was made so that a man could experiment and see how different trees from different continents and climates can grow grow in  different atmospheres. I was able to see trees from many different continents which was very interesting.

My teacher brought traditional  Japanese snacks so we  sat  under the cherry blossom trees and had a little picnic.

aren’t they so beautiful?

It was so refreshing to step away from campus, various projects, and finals.

I  just enjoyed the beautiful weather and peaceful atmosphere.

Rodrigo Amarante @ The Red Room

11104165_945294465526752_1773185997_n

I had the privilege of being able to see a very talented musician named Rodrigo Amarante. He is a Brazilian singer-songwriter from Rio de Janeiro. Amarante is also a part of three different bands Los Hermanos, Little Joy, and Orquestral Imperial. He now works on his solo music and has a solo album out called “Cavalo”.  During the show he promised us that he is coming out with a new album. Rodrigo sings and writes in english, portugese, and french which brings so much diversity to his music.

Rodrigo’s performance was so personal and genuine, he carried a  child like innocence to his demeanor. As I listened and watched Amarante perform with his band I could not help but realize that this is what music is all about. So genuine and so real, he connected with all the people in the room and made them feel something for a moment.

11128722_945294468860085_866059287_n

I noticed that  he would look at every person in the room in the eyes and have a special moment with them. Which was  very beautiful and moving to me.

Sunset Overlooking the Charles River ♡

sunset

The weather was beautiful yesterday. I had the great privilege of watching the sunset on a friends rooftop. His rooftop overlooks the Charles River!

sunset2

Isn’t the view beautiful?!?

P.s. say hello to my friend Sammy ❤

sunset3

Although the weather was warm and beautiful yesterday it got a bit windy. So I decided to use my scarf to keep me warm.. and it resulted in a candid photo of me being taken.

I am becoming very grateful for this warm weather, I really hope the nasty cold weather is over!! Spring and summer weather please come sooner and stay for good.

How are you guys spending your time with this beautiful weather?

I hope the weather is nice and warm wherever you are 🙂
