During my visit in Ecuador I had the privilege of visiting a town called Otavalo. Most of the people that live in Otavalo are the indigenous people of Ecuador. In this province there is a market that the indigenous Otavaleños sell there handmade products.
Everything sold in this market is handmade. It was so beautiful to see the detail and hard work they put into every product.
Seeing the indigenous people was very beautiful and so interesting to me.
This mask has many meanings to it… the top 12 little figures sticking out of the head represents the months in the year. The front part of the mask represents day and the back represents night!
Otavaleños are so creative!!
Visiting the Otavalo Market is something that I will never ever forget in my life. I saw many things that I have never seen before. From the indigenous people to the beautiful art that was sold in the market.
